"The important thing is never to stop questioning" - Albert Enstein
Children are born scientists. It is our natural human instinct to be inquisitive about the world around us. It is our aim at Scholes Village Primary School to nurture our children’s enquiring minds, as we believe that curiosity is critical for deepening understanding. In our science lessons, children are encouraged to ask questions, to want to know why and find out how things work. We aim to provide a learning environment that stimulates awe and wonder of the world around us and facilitates children exploring and making their own discoveries.
PUPIL VOICE: HOW DO WE FEEL? |
NEWS: SCIENCE WEEK |
"I enjoyed researching about something and then demonstrating what we have learned practically. Like when we found out how far the planets were from the sun and build our own models in year five." (Blake Y6) "I like finding out things I didn't know before in science and it's fun" (Alfie Y1) "We get to find out the answers ourselves in science like in year two when we did an experiment to find out what plants need to grow." (Sophie Y3) For a closer look at our most recent Pupil Voice Survey, please ckick below: |
We worked with Bradford College to deliver some excellent STEM sessions:
A huge thank you to the teaching students and Mr Cannell for organising and facilitating the day! |
- OUR CURRICULUM -
Staff provide engaging lessons, supporting and inspiring children to observe, question, explore, investigate and discover. We understand the importance of having a strong foundation of sound subject knowledge. This is embedded throughout our curriculum and reinforced through working scientifically lessons allowing a balance between knowledge and skill. Furthermore, our goal is to cultivate the qualities of a scientist in our pupils. To be observant; to engage in problem solving; to work methodically and precisely; to preserver and be resilient. We hope that children are then able to use these skills in many aspects of their lives and to be life-long learners.
