"Every girl deserves to take part in creating the technology that will change our world and change who runs it." - Malala Yousafzai

At Scholes Village Primary, we intend:

For all children to have access to technology in our modern world as we believe it is a right, not a privilege.

In this ever-developing subject area, we strive to educate our children about internet safety and instill a sense of duty in keeping themselves and others safe. As such, we shine a spotlight on internet safety at many points throughout the year to help children recognise its importance. We nurture skilled and enthusiastic children to be confident when using a wide range of technologies. We encourage our children to become not only competent users but to become developers and innovators themselves. To achieve our intentions, we teach subject specific content and the application of computing skills, in context, across the whole curriculum.

- OUR CURRICULUM -

ONLINE SAFETY

-FOLLOW THE SMART RULES -

Safe

Keep safe by not giving out personal information when chatting or posting online. Personal information includes your email address, phone number and password. I will not send anything that could be considered unpleasant or nasty.

Meeting

Meeting someone you have only been in touch with online is dangerous. Always tell an adult if someone online asks to meet you. Remember online friends are still strangers even if you have been talking to them for a long time.

Accepting

Accepting emails, IM messages, or opening files, pictures or texts from people you don’t know or trust can lead to problems – they may contain viruses or nasty messages.

Reliable

Someone online might lie about who they are and information on the internet may not be true. Always check information with other websites, books or someone who knows. If you like chatting online it’s best to only chat to your real world friends and family.

Tell

Tell your parent, carer or a trusted adult if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, or if you or someone you know is being bullied online. If you find something online that is nasty or unpleasant activate Hector and tell your teacher immediately.
