Scholes Village Primary School

At Scholes we offer a variety of Nursery places, based on eligibility and spaces available, from the term after a child turns 3. Children can access a 30 hour place, or come mornings or afternoons for 15 hours per week, depending on which criteria your situation meets. We charge £1 per day for 30 hour places. The term before your child is due to start, we will hold an admissions panel to allocate places. We will inform you of this no later than half a term before they are due to start. We will call all prospective parents to check they still require the place, and send out letters to invite your child to our very popular 'Getting Ready for Nursery' sessions. These will run on a Friday afternoon in the school hall or the Early Years Unit for the half term before your child starts, and will include a 'parents meeting' session where parents will meet with the class teacher and children will have the opportunity to play in the setting independently. These sessions are run by our very experienced Nursery Nurse, Mrs Gray, who plans and prepares themed weeks where children can play and explore the resources on offer, as well as meeting the children that will be in their cohort.

We have seen a huge benefit of these sessions in the children's transition into Nursery. They are already familiar, and have often made friends with, the children in their class, they have a familiar face with Mrs Gray and parents already feel secure in the leaving their children in a warm, caring and engaging environment.
