Class 2

Welcome to class 2! Taught by Miss Hargreaves, Ms Sheard and Mrs Grabowski.

Our project: Wonderful Weather!

General Reminders

Homework will be sent home via your child's existing Showbie account. Homework should be completed by the following Friday morning at the latest. If this is not completed then children will be asked to do use an iPAD/ laptop in school to complete during playtimes and lunchtimes.

Children will need their PE KITS (black shorts and a white t-shirt, with pumps or trainers) on a Tuesday for PE lessons. PE kit can stay in school throughout the week. Children should have their trainers on both of those days, weather depending on where their lesson will take place. Earrings must be removed for sports. Please make sure that uniform, as well as PE kit are labelled with names.

Reading and Literacy

READING RECORDS should be written in by an adult at home once a week to show any progress made with their accelerated reader book. A member of staff will also read once a week with each child, and write in their accelerated reader quiz scores. Children will also read independantly for 15 minutes a day at school, and are expected to do the same at home. Class 2 do Literacy every morning for an hour, working on our writing and comprehension skills. Children will recieve a comprehension homework, for practice, every two weeks. Our termly project may link with our themes of writing.

This Term in Class 2

This term our project is 'Wonderful Weather'. Within this project, we will be comparing weather in other countries, learning about the four seasons, exploring our forest and create weather charts. We will be learning through lots of  geography and art. We will be investigating our project along with class 1, every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. We look forward to reading and basing our writing on a range of stories that we will learn as a class, through drama and song!

Class 2 do an hour of maths every morning, practicing our arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving throughout every objective. Currently, we are developing our knowledge of 2-D and 3-D shape. Every other week, children will recieve a piece of maths homework, linked to that week's learning. Ask your children to explain 'how they know' the answer to a homework question, or what they have learned at school - to practice their reasoning skills!

If you have any concerns or problems, please come to the door before or after school and speak to one of our class staff members. If required, don't hesitate to make an appointment with us one day after school.
