Welcome to Class 2’s Home Page

Our class teacher is the dashingly handsome Mr Cannell! Mrs Hill and Mrs Calvert are our Educational Teaching assistants and are here to help us with our work every day. In addition we have Mr Gallagher, an apprentice ETA. Some of our children work in the Treetops classroom 4 mornings a week with Mrs Firth and Mrs Hainsworth.

Our project for Spring 1 and 2 is Funny Bones. In this project we cover some science, some geography, lots of history, some art and we do lots of non-fiction and story writing. We do English and Maths every day in Year 2.

Most children have now moved on to Accelerated Reader, which is a computer programme to check progress. It would help greatly if you could take any opportunities to read with/to your child. All children in Year 2 have a reading record. Book bags need to come in everyday as everyone reads independently (if possible) every day in addition to 1:1 reading with an adult, whole class and small group guided reading.

PE days are Mondays and Fridays. I would advise leaving kit in school each week and taking them home at the end of each half term. PE kit is a plain, white T-shirt and black shorts/leggings. This Half Term in PE we will be studying 'The Waltz' and improving our bat and ball skills.

Homework is set on Fridays and usually due on a Wednesday. As we stream for phonics your child’s phonics teacher will tell them the day their spellings will be due.

To find us on social media like the school's facebook page: 'Scholes Village Primary' or follow us on Twitter @ScholesVPSchool I will try and remember to # all our posts with #class2scholes so they are easy to find.
