Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

The chosen language to learn at Scholes is French. Pupils in years 3-6 are taught French every week using 'La Jolie Ronde' syllabus. They are taught in a fun and practical way with lots of games, French stories, rhymes and songs. In line with the National Curriculum (2014), we encourage our pupils to read, write and speak the language with increasing confidence and independence as they progress through school. We assess against these three areas along with 'intercultural understanding' which teaches pupils about the general differences between France and the United Kingdom in terms of their customs and way of life.
